The babysitter I had, was a special friend of mine,
All he wanted was room and board, never asked a dime.
He taught me patience and persistence and an ounce of cuss,
Was always there when I needed him, never made a fuss.
This babysitter of mine, let me deal with life real,
Didn't hide death and sorrow, nor' made it a big deal.
He taught me to use my hands, with patience and common sense,
Let me crawl on his back by climbing up a fence.
He taught me to stand bowlegged and walk with a strut,
But if I stepped out of line, he'd dump me on my butt.
He made me use my head, in the things I want to do,
He was never too busy and always waited on me too.
He never called me names and believed in what I done.
We had to use our imaginations and decide who lost or won.
So that babysitter helped create the person I was to be,
Taught me about life, with a life long memory.

A horse is more than what we see,
He is devotion and a mystery,
He is work, a pleasure and a companion too,
He is heart and soul of the things we do.
He is history, a legend, a part of our past,
He is our future understanding, of llves we cast.
He is grace, he is style, he is soft and kind.
He calms nerves, and helps unwind.
He is comical, an acrobat with a touch of ballet.
He is wind. He is courage in more than one way.
He is security, with honesty he holds no lles,
With unspoken thoughts behind his eyes.
A challenge for us to fully understand,
The life and bond between horse and man.

OUR FATHER'S HAND click here to view the card

He gave us guidance and direction down the roads we traveled,
Sheltered us and gave us time to heal.
He was stern yet forgiving as our lives were unraveled,
And gave us heart so we could feel.
With the uncertain future that before us lay
One thing we understand
Is to live life to its fullest day by day,
And cherish the love in our Father's hand.

Oh Lord I want to thank you for giving me this day,
And allowing me to llve this Cowboy way.
I thank you for the saddle that I sit astride,
And this faithful companion that you have given me to ride.
And Lord I want to thank you for all of your time,
Allowing me to use your land and calllng it mine.
I nurture and replace all that I use,
And promise to take care and keep it from abuse.
I thank you for the cattle that are grazing at my side,
Who taught me patience and persistence, damn their orner'y hide.
And the children you have given me, four legged and two,
Who make me look at little things and some times think of you.
The owl and coyote who sing their lullaby,
The courage to stand again and give another try
And finally Lord I thank you for allowing me to llve,
For as long as I have with the abillty to give.
With the patience to teach all that I know,
For those who follow in our footsteps and who really want to grow.
So I take my hat off to you Lord and give an honored bow,
For you have let me live my dream and fulfilled it somehow.
